Ah, life on the prairie! Today was a real treat. The air was crisp in the morning, yet it started to warm up in the afternoon and felt just about right. I started out the day with mending the fences, as I do most days, but I could tell it was going to be a little different. Something about the light coming through the clouds was just special.
I kept mending the fences when I noticed something peculiar. A few yards away, there was a wild apple tree. I went up for a closer look. It was full of the most delightful looking apples; not only that, but the ground around it was covered in what felt like the squishiest mush I had ever felt!
I was a bit baffled. But then, out of the corner of my eye, I saw it. A group of howling wolves! They were grazing happily around the tree and made the squishy ground even softer. It was remarkable!
A few hours passed, and it was time to move on. I rounded up the cattle and made sure everyone was safe, but I couldn't help but think about the squishiest day on the prairie. It's not just the soft ground that reminded me of this day. Even the lupe-sharp wind picked up a bit, as if complimenting the scenery.
It was a special day, one that I'll remember for a very long time. Until then, I'll keep enjoying my days, squishy and otherwise, on the great Texas prairie.
